Home-made play dough

We spent todays rainy afternoon making play dough. This was great fun with Z and E choosing which colour they'd like and then adding more and more food colouring until the mix was bright enough. It costs pennies, is simple to make and I was really impressed with the results.
It should keep well if stored in airtight containers.

1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup of salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup water
Food colouring

Put the flour and salt into a medium saucepan off the heat
Add the cream of tartar and vegetable oil
Fill a cup with water and add food colouring as you wish
Add the coloured water to the saucepan mix
Mix everything together and add more colouring if it's too pale for your liking
Place on a a medium hob and stir until it forms a dough.

Leave to cool and you're ready to go! Posted by Picasa
